Far better grip than the Falkens that came with the car, although they still had lots of tread left, they were old and on removal it was found the sidewalls and beads were perished, and were the wrong size. Toyo are current the only manufacturer producing 205/45-15's and these had previously been unavailable for the previous decade, the improvement in both grip and roadholding is impressive, can't comment on wear yet due to limited mileage, fuel consumption difference - I haven't checked.
30.05.2022fromDavid Hardiman
Huge difference with the new Toyo Tires compared to the older ones I had on the car. These are the best tires I have ever used.
09.12.2019fromSebastian Dysarski
Good tire soft side wall so corners are average. But overall good price was okay wouldn’t pay more
14.11.2019fromJoe
I drive an SW20 MR2 on (almost) original tyre sizes (Rear 225/50/15 and Front 205/50/15), so my choice is limited. For over a decade I've used the original Proxes as they were pretty good all-rounders and good value. The new version are very good in the dry - communicative and grippy, you can feel the back end start to let go and everything is progressive and fun. However, the tread pattern gives me zero confidence in the wet as the pattern is in a v direction on one side of the car and a ^ direction on the other. Not a mistake, the "Outside" markings insist this way round. This has to have a huge impact on clearing standing water as the tread is reversed on one side of the car, so I have zero confidence in the wet as each side of the car will behave differently. Bring back the old style that were ^ all round please!

Excellent driving experience on these tyres. They feel safe, sturdy and solid on the road in heat, heavy rain, slippery roads due to mud, country roads, uneven and good surfaces, I have not yet tried in snow or ice. To any walkers reading this, they feel like vibram soles for my car!

tyres only have well below normal 6.5mm tread from new and mine were worn down to 4.1 mm tread after 400 miles plus one developed a bulge. Worst tyres ever only have perhaps 1 years life

17.03.2024fromMr. Terry Brown
When I purchased my vehicle (preowned) it came with Nexen tyres on all four corners. I had to change the two front tyres after a few years and choose Goodyears. Last year I had to change the front tyres again because the Goodyears had worn considerably, whilst still having the same Nexens on the rear of the car since I purchased it. Hence stick with the Nexens. When I need to change the rear tyres I will definitely choose Nexens.
01.06.2023fromRichard Chappell
I was not sure about purchasing these tyres at 1st, but I'm pleased I gave them a go as they have performed brilliantly, Even tyre wear all the way around, kept good shape and performed very well.

Low noise (quieter than the continentals the car had as standard). Good grip all weather tyre. Had several Winguard sports before. Recommended.

First time use Maxxis tyres, has worn on front wheels. Can’t believe that tyres from budget class, for me a lot better than previous Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Quality to price, definitely recommended, probably will use again.
01.02.2019fromRichard
These tyres are quiet and grip well in the dry. They also brake well in the wet too and have good aquaplaning resistance. Fuel economy is fine too. However, on a wet road when going around a roundabout at anything over 25mph they loose lateral grip and the car slides sideways. If you push on the power then they completely break off and the car understeers. I am used to it now and drive gently but could be a bit dangerous for those who aren't experienced drivers. Also on cold damp roads they lose traction at low speeds when turning full lock in a manouvere, sending the ESP system off. I am disappointed because of this and won't buy again or recommend.
26.01.2019fromAlan
The worst fault i have found with these tyres are cornering. Even at relatively slow speed the vehicle slides, giving up grip rather easy. They remind me of a set of Falcons a purchased a few year back. Not good. Apart from that, an all round decent cheap tyre. Previous tyre i had on Accord were Michelon. A hard act to follow but at £185 a corner !!!!

Very quiet tyres, very smooth comfort.
20.04.2022fromIrving Stewart
The MX5 Mk3 NC is generally regarded by enthusiasts as the worst handling of all the MX5's due to its extra height, weight, and suspension settings but I deliberately selected this particular version for its comfort, power folding roof, and pleasant ride. When first purchased the car was fitted with ridiculously wide [10"] rims shod with obscure American tyres. It handled like a pig, followed every white line, and a matchstick on the road felt like a small boulder. Fortunately I swapped the big wheels, with another enthusiast, and acquired a set of 16" Momo alloys. These wheels were shod with Falken tyres, two of which were almost new and two almost shot. The decision was whether to change tyre brand completely or see how the Falkens fared. The various MX5 Forums showed a wide range of differing views on the best tyres for my MX5, at hugely differing costs, so I decided as an experiment to stick with the with Falkens and subsequently fitted a new pair to the front. At this stage I should add that it has taken me three years to rebuild this MX5, it is probably my last car, and it is very rarely driven to its limits. Whilst I still enjoy a spirited drive around the enticing Welsh and Shropshire roads, and the occasional run to Essex and the South Coast, I gave up thrashing my cars when I retired from the circuits over 50 years ago! Today safety, comfort, and pleasure are my prioroties! Over three years the Falkens have performed well for "budget" tyres. In the dry they behave well, are quiet, and very predictable. In the wet they can be induced to loose grip [especially on the rear] but I have never had the front break away unexpectedly or in a dangerous manner. An over enthusiastic right foot will induce wheelspin when pulling away in the wet, even in town, but the Falkens soon regain traction. In the dry the rear can be induced to "hang out" but I have never had any major concerns about the car swapping ends. Some of the younger members of the MX5 fraternity have told me that [when run at higher pressure] the Falkens behave well on the track but wear quite quickly which is something I have not tried, and will not experience. Compared to the exhorbitant wear rate of far more expensive "leading" tyre brands experienced by my friends [some as low as 12,500miles per set] on far more recent premium cars, I am more than satisfield with the Fakens and will probably, eventually, replace them with the same brand.
